Freelance Science Communication Specialist - Qatar Foundation

Job Purpose:

The Science Communication Specialist is expected to translate QEERI scientist’s complex results and ideas into accurate and clear terms that non-scientists can understand and value. The Specialist is also expected to assist in planning, designing and implementing scientific conferences and workshops/ communication/ outreach/ public relation programs on energy and environment.

Key Result Areas:

Technical Communications
- Provide expert peer review and approval for internal technical documents and proposals prepared by QEERI scientists
- Provide scientific communications in energy and environmental research for general readership
- Interpret and communicate written and orally highly technical/scientific material in adequate terms for non-scientists audiences.
- Write QEERI’s annual and periodic reports
- Prepare performance evaluation reports
- Review, update and verify QEERI website content
- Provide information, press releases and/or interviews on technical information about QEERI’s projects for the media when needed.
- Follow up the joint activities between QEERI and the Arab Expat Scientists

Outreach
- Design and follow up the implementation the Doha Carbon and Energy Forum event.
- Assist QEERI’s science outreach expert in:
A. The design of content for outreach materials, such as brochures, presentations, graphs, posters, publications and audiovisuals.
B. The design and quality assurance of technical and outreach events, such as conferences, exhibitions, seminars, etc.
C. The promotion of science and sustainability in Qatar, through public engagement events.

Qatar Sustainability Network
- As QEERI is the secretariat of the Qatar Sustainability Network. This person will also assist Qatar Sustainability Network management board with technical content and science outreach events.
